I was admitted to the hospital 41 days ago with DVT and PE (stayed there for 5 days). Came home on Coumadin and lovenox but was never able to get the INR to settle down so now I'm on xarelto. I go from the double dose to the single dose tomorrow. That means I will have been on xarelto for 22 days.

A couple of days after starting xarelto the unbelievable calf pain subsided but the whole leg and foot swelling remains about the same.

Does there come a point with time or symptoms that you can be pretty confident that there is no longer a time bomb waiting to blow?

One of the most difficult parts of DVT/PE has been the uncertainty. Does the risk go down or go away in time - when can one feel safe or safer again?

Steve

Hi Steve,

With DVT, there is no secret recipe, everybody reacts differently from one another, even from one cloth to another. I had two different cloths and both experience (nightmares ) were entierly different from each other. So to say, after so many days or weeks you will feel better, would be so wrong for me to do.
Not the answer you were looking for, I know. BUT, when you do start feeling like yourself, it's amazing how fast this happens. If you are lucky, you may even forget you ever had this bad experience.

Read through the member's experiences in The Lounge, you will see exactly what I mean.
But at this point, you have to look at each step and remind yourself (baby steps, baby steps, baby steps)...
Don't rush things.
Hope this helps a bit.
