I received this PM last week from a new member...

Hi,
I'm a freelance writer who is putting together an article on "what you need to know if you're on warfarin" (and possibly other blood thinners) for a Canadian magazine called Good Times, which is aimed at people in the 50+ age group. The piece will discuss the basics of how warfarin works, the conditions it's prescribed for, how therapy is monitored and managed, and what precautions have to be taken (e.g. diet, drug interactions, alternative remedies, physical activity).
In addition to interviewing the usual experts, i.e. doctors and pharmacists who manage patients on warfarin, I thought it would be interesting to get insights from someone who's actually taking this finicky drug. In my researching on the Internet, I came across this site, read your story, and thought you would be a great person to interview for my story. Consequently, I would very much like to do a short (about 15 minutes) telephone interview with you some time next week. Would you be interested in doing this? I hope so, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

What do you think I replied? (after checking EChanda's credentials, this is not the first medical article published by EChanda)
Of course I will do it, I'm all about raising the public awarenes on the subject of DVT, that is one of the main reasons this site does exist.
Along with the information that is found on this forum, I would like to add these few points that are very important to any DVT articles.
A- Many people get DVT,PE... some of us are fortunate enough to survive DVT, but have to keep on living under the permanent
grasp of anticoagulants, sometimes the medication can be worst then the actual disease.
Many people ask us,"what is wrong with you, you don't look sick "
and don't understand the physical and
emotional pains we have as survivors,
they also don't know that more people die each year from DVT, PE... then HIV
AND BREAST CANCER
COMBINED TOGETHER.
B-Raise the public awareness on DVT, PE... (No, I'm not losing my mind and repeating myself, it needs to be done.)
Make it known that even the medical community is not up to par, still too many
misdiagnosis when DVT, PE is in front
of them. I am very fortunate,(and I thank them) my doctor and her team are part of a major research unit in the field of
Thrombosis, but I have heard of many people that have been sent home after having a clot or a pulmonary embolism
misdiagnosed as "something not life threatening" and pass away that same day, from a pulmonary embolism!!!
C-There are no age, shape, gender for DVT, some people are more at risks but
everybody can get DVT and they
DON'T KNOW IT... That is the scarry part.
So if anybody would like to add more points, this is our chance.
