PostSubject: Genetic Non-Discrimination Act (GINA) in the USA.   Thu Jun 05, 2008 10:44 pm

Article supplied by RetiredNavy02

The President of the USA, signed a Bill prohibiting genetic discrimination in the workplace in the USA. The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act prohibits employers from discharging, refusing to hire, or otherwise discriminating against employees on the basis of genetic information. It applies to employment agencies and labor unions as well.

More information regarding this Act can be found at:

One key note, members of the military who have a known thrombophilia, regardless if they have had an clotting incident, can be medically discharged from the service. Anything is waiverable in the military but I'm curious to see how DoD will revise their medical guidance concerning this. Will keep those interested posted on what I find out.
