Hello to all,
Glad to have found this forum ,I am 36yrs old from nsw australia ,I ended up with a DVT around April 2007 same time as finding out I was 13 weeks pregnant with my 6th child.I had been ill for a week then suddently noticed very bad swelling on my left leg ,my leg tripled in size and was unable to walk ,I was quickly taken to doctors where he told me looks like a blot clot and I would need to get to hospital straight away to have dopplers done on leg..straight away they confirmed clots running thru most of my left leg.I was admitted and given 0.8ml clexane injections twice a day plus stockings on both legs ,stayed in hospital for 5 days.. they then released me and had to give myself the Clexane injections, only a few days later I was re-admitted to hospital again as the swelling wasnt going down, only in hospital 3 days that time.
I was sent home continued injections daily till birth of my child, was told then to go back to 0.5 mg of Clexane once a day for 6 weeks then I should be fine to stop using it? No follow up dopplers nothing..and just the other day a year after the birth of my child noticed I was swelling in the same leg again No it's back or it was always there just resurfaced so to speak.. I had just taken a long car trip too.. I think the doctors should have at least got another doppler done after my childs birth dont know why they didnt ..so looks like I will be going back again and asking for one ..fellow members here did u end up with follow up dopplers or like me just get the one or two at beginning of finding out u have/had a DVT?
Thanks for listening

Hi there

Sorry to hear that your DVT appears to be back. Have you done the Doppler yet and the doctor confirmed DVT?

After my DVT and being on Warfarin for 6 months, I was sent for another Doppler and was taken off Warfarin when the Doppler showed the all clear. I did, however, suffer a PE about a year later and am now on anticoags for life.

Do let us know what the doctor says.

Regards,
Madeline
