Bridging therapy with low–molecular-weight heparin is usually recommended in patients who must stop oral anticoagulants before surgical or invasive procedures. Why is it that there are so many DIFFERENT protocols when talking about bridging?
Just today, I heard a friend say that her Dr. was going to get her to stop her anticoagulant treatment FOUR DAYS PRIOR to her procedure.
That was it, nothing else... affraid

When I had my gallbladder removed last year, I was already on Fragmin injections but I was taken off of it ONE DAY prior the procedure and as soon as I was out of ICU back on anticoags I was.

I have heard of people who were going to have knee replacements WITHOUT any bridging.
I have also heard of people who do not have clotting problems and having either a knee or a hip replaced and no anticoagulants post op.

Is this 2010??? affraid
