Is this readily available in the USA/Canada? I've sent a note to my vascular surgeon but I know the UK tends to lag behind the USA on this sort of thing by a couple of years.

Readily, NO. Most of the time this is offered if you have problems being therapeutic, when it's the last thing they can do...

From what I have been told, is that there are more chances in damaging the veins with this procedure, so more chances of having PTS (Post Thrombotic Syndrome) afterward.

ah ok, that's contrary to their claims then. They claim the main benefit is that as the clots are removed quicker it causes less damage to the veins, and thus reduces the chance of PTS although i can imagine threading a guide wire and other bits and bobs would also cause damage.

TBH, my greatest fear is PTS, I can live with taking warfarin for 6 months, i can even put up with wearing the stocking for 2 years, but I just hope that's the end of it.
