My story started on July 26th when I had a knee replacement. Three days later my leg ballooned up and was red and very warm. Just by the sight of it...the Dr diagnosed cellulitis and I was rushed to the hospital (from a rehabilitation facility) and I had a "pic line" inserted and started intraveious antibiotics. I was already on blood thinners. So my Dr just insisted on harsh rehab to get my knee bending. Well, it was like a swollen sausage(!!!) and it would only bend a little even with the force of a therapist. My pain was 10 plus. I was found to have pelvic bloodclots....but my Dr had not heard of Maes Thurner and did not mention it, let alone treat it. After battling through the last 2 months with incredible pain, my pain specialist is the one who finally scheduled me to see a hemotologist. I am praying to God that they can do something quick and help me. I can barely walk right now, with a cane. Does anyone know if pressure (therapy) makes it worse. I can't stand it and my leg seems worse after ANY pressure. Please someone help me out!

Hi NC, I'm glad you found the place and it offers you some encouragement.
First question for you is WHAT is "pressure therapy"?
I think the hemo will be able to answer THAT question as in WHAT has to be done, better then anybody else, they deal with it all the time.
How is your INR, is it stable?

Actually, I didn't mean "pressure therapy" I mean the pressure that some physical therapists use. I had one who was going way overboard with trying to get my knee to bend. Anyway...since my post, I have seen the hemptologist. She thinks I have a serious problem and may need surgical intervention. She made me an oppointment with a vascular surgeon this Friday (OCt 12) She said that she was afraid if I wait much longer..the blood stuck in the vein could become hard, kind of like cement (her words) I'm anxious to see what he will suggest. I'm having a very hard time controlling my pain. Also, I'm pretty much homebound (not use to that) as my walking is ALMOST impossible right now. My INR is 2.9 and usually ranges between 2.5-2.9, so that's good. Thanks for the welcome, I wasn't sure I'd hear from anyone!
